BBA today
When the Retail Bridalwear Association (RBA) was formed in 1995, a number of Suppliers joined as 'Associate Members'. It soon became obvious that Suppliers needed a Trade Association of their own and in 1998 the British Bridalwear Association (BBA) began operating in it's own right.
Numbers grew and in 2002 the BBA became strong enough to be represented on the Board of UK Fashion Exports (UKFE). The BBA began organising Bridalwear Trade Shows in many British Embassies abroad, mainly in Scandinavia, Austria, Eire, Switzerland and in the US. Government subsidies for such exhibitions have now been largely curtailed but the results are showing in exports of Bridal Gowns and Accessories.
The UKFE has now changed it's name to UK Fashion Trades Association (UKFT) and has the Princess Royal as it's President. HRH Princess Anne has personally visited ten BBA Member's premises during the last 4 years to congratulate them on their export achievements.
The BBA sends out monthly Newsletters to it's Members and also operates a Credit Check System on new retail clients. This system results in a bi-monthly 'Worst Accounts Report' which has become an invaluable tool in assisting Member's Credit Controllers to reduce bad debts.
If you are a Supplier in the Bridalwear Trade, we look forward to hearing from you. Please read the BBA's Membership Application Form on this website
